Welcome to Marseille

Marseille

Marseille is the oldest French city, and the second largest one. It is a city of art and culture, marked by 26 centuries of history, which explains why in 2013, it was the European capital of culture. Those traces of the past are visible through its numerous archaeological sites such as the ancient port. Dominated by the basilica Notre-Dame-de-la-Garde and surrounded by the Saint Nicolas fort and the Saint Jean fort, Marseille is also the largest yachting centre in France and the second largest in Europe, with 57 kilometers of coasline. And of course, what would Marseille be without its magnificent "calanques"? This wild and rugged terrain stretches from the ninth arrondissement of Marseille to the east towards Cassis, spanning 20 km in length and 4 km in width along the coast.

You could spend the night at the Marius campsite that you can book on our website. It is located in the heart of the Calanques, between Marseille and the Camargue, on the "Côte Bleue" ("Blue Coast"). And if you don't want to spend the night outside Marseille, you can book a hotel on our website, such as the New Hôtel Saint Charles, located only ten minutes away by foot from the ancient port and only 150 metres away from the Canebière street, the big historical street of Marseille's historical district.
