Ring of Kerry
The Ring of Kerry is considered one of the finest drives in the world. From rugged cliffs to golden beaches, small villages and pastures green to peat bogs and picturesque mountain ranges. It’s a road that takes you through 10,000 years of dramatic history. It’s a road that takes you from deep forest to the crashing waters of the Atlantic. It’s a road through rugged, majestic landscapes: where wild stag roam and where tumbling waterfalls crash into crystal streams teeming with wild salmon. It’s a road that shows you the real meaning of a holiday in Kerry, Ireland.
What to do:
Beaches: Sitting on the most westerly tip of Ireland and Europe, Kerry has some of the finest and unspoilt beaches you will find in the World.
Walking: The Kerry Way is one of the longest signposted walking trails in Ireland. It is approximately 215km long (135 miles) and one of the most enjoyable ways to see the true Kerry if you are in to walking.
Fishing: If you are a keen fisherman or a novice then you will be spoilt for choice in Kerry. There is something for everyone's taste, be that lake fishing, river fishing, sea fishing or shore fishing.
Golfing: Some of the most acclaimed links and parkland courses in Ireland, many in exquisitely beautiful settings, are located along the Ring of Kerry and are played by golfers from all over the world.
Cycling: Kerry is an ideal spot for a cycling holiday whether it's just to hire a bicycle for a day or to take part in the world famous Ring of Kerry Charity Cycle that takes place each year in July.
How to get to Kerry:
Train: Train services to Kerry are provided by Irish rail. The three stations in Kerry served by rail are Tralee, Farranfore, and Killarney.
Bus: Bus service provided by Bus Eireann.
Ferry: The closest Car Ferry to Kerry is located in Ringaskiddy Co. Cork approx 90 minutes drive from Killarney.
