Although the souks of Marrakech are bursting with great gifts and household objects, how about taking home something really special, the secrets of Moroccan cuisine! Enjoying something of a renaissance over the past few years, Moroccan food is one of the most recognisable flavours in the world. Few other countries have national dishes so evocative of the country itself and here is your chance to learn the secrets of Moroccan cooking under the expert tuition of a professional cook.
You will be provided with your own workspace and will be taught the secrets of the oldest Moroccan recipes as you create a starter or salad and a main dish which may include Tajines, pastries, salads and couscous. Your cooking workshop starts with a general introduction to Moroccan cooking, highlighting the importance of food in Moroccan society, and the role played over the centuries by the Dada the traditional female cook. You will be introduced to the most traditional recipes such as Pastilla, Couscous, and the many Tagines, with descriptions of the ingredients and the all-important spices, and the different methods of cooking. Then you get the chance to put your new knowledge into practice, with an explanation of the recipe of the day and the ingredients that will be used.
There is a maximum of 10 people per group and a translator (Arabic, English, French) provides detailed preparation and cooking instructions. After the class, it's time to taste the final results!! You will enjoy the meal you have prepared in the shade of fig or olive trees by the hotel pool.
